Ahhhh! I’m doing the Three Peaks Challenge this Saturday!!

Months of planning and training and it’s here. It’s happening THIS WEEKEND!

The Three Peaks Challenge has always been something I wanted to do but I never knew if I’d actually manage it. But when the idea was mentioned while in the pub with my fellow Scout Leaders I knew then it was going to happen. And here we are!

We have a mini bus sorted with 3 drivers / logistics support and there are 7 of us walking it.

When the idea first came out we decided to do it for charity, and three charities were selected that are all very close to us.

Cardiac Risk in the Young (CRY)

Chosen because we all sadly lost a mutual friend, aged just 20, when he left his house for work one morning, feeling absolutely fine, and his heart simply stopped before he had even left his driveway. The devastation left behind from this sudden and unexplained death is still very raw. He should still be here… simple.

Motor Neurone Disease Association

Selected due to a number of us watching a close friend’s father slowly deteriorate and then pass away from the condition before he got to meet his 2nd grandchild. Watching this kind, lovely gentleman go from a happy and active man to someone who couldn’t walk or even talk is just so so sad.

Hearing Dogs

This is the charity in my heart. I’m lucky enough to see first hand the difference this charity makes to people with hearing loss, especially the change in confidence and independence that having a dog brings to them. The compassion and commitment each member of staff have towards not just the dogs they train but also the wonderful volunteers and the recipients of the Hearing Dogs is so heart warming to see.
